Why is EDTECH useful?

During this past semester I learnt a lot more about apps that I use in my daily schedule. I never thought about how it could be integrated into my future classroom topics. Starting off with creating a lesson plan using smart notebook open my eyes to what there is to offer with interactive components. These apps can work with the Program of Studies to encourage students to use technology in good ways rather than negative. I have learnt the importance of collaboration between colleagues and even the students. By using the google extensions; it is easy for students to complete group projects because they don't all have to work on the one computer. Each of them can be one separate computers but still working on the same project.

A few apps that i have encountered within this class time frame include: Venngage, Thinglink, Poll Everywhere, Google Forms, Story Jumper. These all have their own purpose to add into the classroom. I found that Venngage is an interesting infographic app that students can present their projects in a fun way! Poll Everywhere and Google Forms can be used as a formative assessment after any subject type after each unit. Lastly Story Jumper can bring a classroom together by the creation of a story. Once you talk about internet appropriate standards; you can trust the students to create one page each each to make a fun, creative, laugh worthy story!

This course was filled with different components that took sometime to learn. By using each app to its fullest potential; you can see the results are endless. I many used word as just writing essays and didn't think about how you can create worksheets by manipulating each element. By using the design tab you can use the ultimate space and waste less paper once you align everything together!

Technology is going to be here for a lifetime now. It is always evolving and it will only get more complex from here on. There will be apps that exist now that probably won't exist in the future, but if you learn about these basic apps now; it is more likely you will understand the apps that are about to come out. Technology wants children to experience the world no matter where they are. Some children don't get the opportunity to travel, but with technology they can research and learn about anything and everything that excites them! Most teachers will yell at students for using their devices, but I think they can be a useful tool for students success.
