I have been stuck contemplating about which place I will choose for my linguistic landscape, but I think I have finally decided. The landscape I have chosen is the farmland that my ancestors homesteaded on over 100 years ago. There are a few signs that may be in Italian, but the rest are in the English language. Being out in the prairies; leaves a challenge on finding signs with any sort of words. This place may not have any words on the walls, but it does give the heritage to learn from. Amongst the community there are few differences between cultures. Everyone is descendants of the English nature in the small proximity of my chosen place. The challenge with this is that if I were to choose say a place in the city of Moose Jaw; I believe I would see the diversity. Moose Jaw is not a place where you would see an abundance of non-English words on a sign, but you would see the different ethnicity throughout the city. Choosing a farmyard for this assignment may be difficult to find what I think I should find. This task will let me dig deeper into learning about linguistics.
